I knew I would paint this view

the space between my selves

I am on a gulf island in the Salish Sea 

I am warmth 

I am light 

I am present.

There is distance between me and the 

land beyond: house, job, family. 

Sparkling water lines hold the difference between me and

that me. 

They are the same as lines in a journal

A space on a page where we lay our thoughts down

To be held just out there.

I am in my studio

inhaled lungs 

exhaled mind

Knowing I will paint this view 

To find my self again
